  1. Thank you very much, Malcolm. I totally agree with you that the reagent cells should be tailored to different ethnic group. still I wonder why the FDA approved Reverse grouping cells are C Neg. and E Neg.? Is anti-C,anti-E also commonly fund and may cause direct agglitination in serology practice?
  2. I have noticed receiently that many reagent red cells for ABO reverse grouping ,like product of Alba,Meiton,Biotest(now Bio-rad),the Rh phenotype is ccdee. Hope some one can explain why the Rh subtype is ccdee? is there a FDA requirement? In east Asia, the RhD frequency is extremely low,it is very difficult to find such donor for the reagent manufacturing!
  3. I don't use E.M. Technology in my lab,but focus on it for a long time, I am glad to share this knowledge with you.
  4. The principle of E.M. Technology is: Nano-magnetic beads attached to the surface of RBCs(fresh cells), so all the centrifuge procedure can be replaced by magnetic force. This Technology can be used for Grouping,Antibody screening,cross-matching,etc. In my point of view,E.M. Technology with a highly automated platform can be used for high-throughput testing like donor grouping, antibody screening.
