  1. Dear all our blood bank are thinking to change the rpr test to vdrl test "elisa" "biokit" but i heard that the rpr is more sensitive than elisa , is it true? And is aabb approved to screen syphilis by elisa based tests? Thank you

Good morning/evening for everybody we have a problem with the maneger of our hospital that it is not the duty of the nurse to pick up the blood from blood bank but we told him that the porters are less educated and may not handle the blood product properly. Please is thier any policy or recommendations from you or from aabb? Thank you

    Hi ashshaq It showed a clear O positive in the gel card DCT was negative and ICT was positive +1
  8. hi for all we have a patient 17y old had a RTA and got a a fracture in the neck of right femur and he is a known case of IDDM-INSULIN DEPENDANT DIABETES MELLITUS- O POSITIVE ,we did a x-match for morw than 80 units but all shows incombatible ranging between weak+ and 1+ we did a panel but it showed positive in all my quistion is , is there any policy for transfusion the least incompatible blood to the patient and how can we deal with situations like this? thank you

Thank you for your help I agree with most of you that we should know the work load and how we can manage it wisely , we have 53 employee from doctors,nerses , techs,cleaners and porters and about 200 donors each day and about 300 orders between x-match ,ABO blood grouping ...etc but with this # of worker we are having some problems with shortage of staff and they want to decrease it more .
  11. Waiting for your reply please. our blood bank needs it very soon because there is shortage in staff and the head of the hospital refuse to increase them.

Hi to all I want to know please how many workers should be in each section of main blood bank who covers 1 main hospital with 1500 beds and 2 other local hospital in the same city each one have 300 beds and 6 hospitals in small towns in the same area ?and if there is any refrence that i could use it. thank you

HI FOR ALL History: 21 y old man came to donate his blood in the blood bank for his mother , he was ok and eligible for donation, C.B.C WITHEN NORMAL RANGES AND DAT WAS NEGATIVE AND VIROLOGY ,PRP, MALARIA AND NAT WERE NIGATIVE ALSO. HOWEVER, IN GEL CARD AND BY TUBE TEST HIS BLOOD GROUP IN FOREWARD B+VE BUT THE REVERSE SHOWS +2 IN A1 AND B CELLS AND BY CELL TYPING THE ANTI-H WAS POSITIVE. THE GEL CARD WAS DONE TWICE BY MONOCLONAL AND HUMAN THE GEL CARD WAS FROM THE DIAMED COMPANY. PLEASE WE NEED HELP TO SOLVE HIS BLOOD GROUP N.P: WE DID A X-MATCHING WITH GROUP O+ AND B+ AND WAS COMPATIBLE.
