I have been working on Softbank for about 6 months, we have not gone live yet. There are many ways of doing the same thing and like any computer system you have to find what works best for you. There are many question screens which are a bit awkward for documentation. There is not a whole lot of information for validation, but I have already validated one system so I can get it done. My support person is very helpful, initial training could be better. My initial class was crowded and not much personal attention. The real test will be after the GO Live!. Good Luck! -
Does anyone have any information on Transfusion Reaction Data? Is there an annual average percentage for patient Transfusion Reactions? Other than reviewing the Patients charts what evaluations are you doing to check for TRALI? My Medical Director wants to send out information to the Physicians on TRALI and I can't find something short and to the point. Any help would be appreciated!

We will go live next Spring with a new computer system (SoftBank), but how can you implement ISBT if the vendor for your Blood does not have it implemented? We get our Blood from ARC but no word yet.

Ellis, Thanks for all the info on tubing blood. Our Oncology Dept. is outside the hospital and we sent blood samples through the tube. They have asked about sending blood units but I have just been putting them off. I will read all the information and work on a procedure for here. Thanks again, Rosanne

We usually give a card to a patient with antibodies. However, in a case where a patient no longer is positive on screening or a special case where the antibody only shows in ficin, a patient should be advised to wear an alert bracelet. Good Post! Rosanne

At the present time we are using Hemocare in Blood Bank for last 3 yrs, interfaced with HBO Star for Hospital system. Hemocare has been fine for BB but rest of Hospital finds it difficult to retrieve information. Our Hospital is changing the HIS and looking at Quadramed for HIS and SoftLab and Soft Bank. We saw a demo for SoftBank and it seemed ok. Does anyone out there use this system or know something about these systems?
