  1. How u detect radiation leakage in ur blood bank radiation machine area. There are radiation detectors , in case of leakage. Please name such instrument and its manufacturer. At present we check leakage periodically, is it required to monitor leakage continuously.
  2. Our radiation machine is in a walled room under stairs going to 1st floor. Back area of the room, separated by a wall, is used as a mini store. The door of the room is in the radiation room, with enough way to walk. It is ending area, and a person can not stand straight in the store, have to bent little, but we can work, Daily just 2-4 times needs to go to the room. Is it objection able by TJC, CAP, AABB, or EPA. Thanks
  3. The cap standard is about blood group specific platelet having red cells TRM.40760 Granulocytes And/Or Platelets Crossmatch-Compatible The red cells in granulocytes and/or platelets are crossmatch-compatible with the recipient's plasma, except when the component contains less than 2 mL of donor red cells.
  4. An improved technique? Please help
  5. We have only Random, by visual inspection color comparison.... the same we measured sugars by Bendict's
  6. Thanks David. I wanted to confirm my opinion.
  7. TRM.40760 Granulocytes And/Or Platelets Crossmatch-Compatible The red cells in granulocytes and/or platelets are crossmatch-compatible with the recipient's plasma, except when the component contains less than 2 mL of donor red cells. How u deal with this CAP requirement. We discard our platelet if RBC is more than half ml (Random units)-it is mentioned in our visual blood products inspection policy. Do still we need cross match policy. We do not have granulocytic transfusion.
  8. Please! May I have make and name of this NIST calibrated thermometer. I want to buy one. I want to buy one set of NIST traceable weight also, if any one has some information Thanks
  9. Preferably we transfuse similar ABO and Rh, if the patient is female we advise RhIg till child bearing age. For ABO incompatible remove plasma and add normal saline, if child up to 2 years of age. We have Random only.
  10. If panagglutinin, what will be the ICT (ABS)?
  11. 4.5 ml EDTA tube, sufficient
  12. .... Ditto..... We do not use any blood product having ABS even Additive-S red cells
  13. We don't use any blood product having antibody screen positive. We test our donors by pool cells for ABS.
  14. Mostly Improper technique or defective reagents
  15. THANKS FOR COOPERATION , we use three screening cell by gel AHG technique and EDTA pt sample
  16. Yes, but I am working in a governmental hospital, purchase is not so easy. I will try David procedure, more appealing to me.
  17. In Blood Bank, in routine, we stopped all disposable glasswares including slide blood grouping other than slides for Malaria. Long ago in hematology I was used to borrow cutter from Pharmacy, the one supplied with glass ampules by some manufacturers.
  18. Thanks David, I am used to do adsorption-elution for week A or B, but this the excellent thought from you.
  19. Sorry we do not have chloroquine. I will check it also Thanks
  20. Sorry I was absent from PathLabTalk for last two months, and now again back. Do u still need the manual? Did u not buy it from AABB?
  21. sure we discard the unit, but what result for Rh for the Donors. Please refer me to the procedure for Absorption and elution for anti D. I try gentle heat elution and rarely I get DCT positive and the problem is solved but it is not always successful.
  22. Some times we have a blood donor whose Direct Rh test is Negative but his weak Rh test (Du) positive while DCT/Rh Control also positive. We try gentle heat elution but usually it is of no benefit. What is the best technique to determine his Rh. Do u face this problem? Thanks
  23. There is no risk of malaria transmittance but the risk of viral contamination retains so gloves should not be avoided.
  24. Some of my colleagues want to get MS degree, They have BS MLS 17 (12+5) years of study and 5 years experience in Blood Banking (Education and experience in Saudi Arab) Any university offering MS without GRE and ASCP/NCA certifications?
