  1. I validate our blood/blood product shipping containers, both AABB approved boxes and coolers twice a year. I validate them at room temperature and then also perform an extreme validation. During the summer, I don't have a problem finding a warm day. This past winter, when I was doing the extreme validations, we had some unusually warm temps those days. My QA dept. questioned my outside temp of 52F for a winter validation; claiming this was not an extreme validation. I am wondering if anyone else does an extreme validation during the winter and the summer and do you have specific temp ranges that your extreme validations must be performed in. Lisa
  2. I want to start preparing pooled cryo to sell to our hospitals. Can anyone offer any advice on QC and Validating the process. I understand that most blood centers are pooling 5 random cryo per pool. Is anyone doing anything other than that?
  3. Monique, I am researching the process of pre-pooled cryo. I am interested in your SOP and your validation studies. Could you please forward a copy of your SOP to me? I am also curious to know if you QC'd each individual unit or did you QC the pooled unit? Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Lisa Dewey
