  1. So as long as our BB has a policy stating it is "ok" to use expired panels for rule outs and perform a QC it is fine with AABB & CAP? What do you do for a QC on these exp. panels?
  2. Is it stated anywhere in AABB that a FS should be performed if an obstetrical event occured at any such gestation? Is it stated anywhere? I am just trying to find it somewhere.
  3. Regarding testing for administration of RhIG, when ordered due to an amniocentesis, miscarriage, or abortion, where is it stated that a Fetal Screen should be performed if the patrient is =/> 20 weeks gestation. I kmow it is there, I just can't find it. No memory here. :-(

  6. Typenex is cheaper. We also switched. Also a 10% discount on first time customers, and no shipping on 2 or more cases.
  7. We used to use them but no longer do as it is considered private medical information. The patient must request their info from their physician or medical records.
  8. How many Blood Bank departments vs Hematology departments perfrom the KB? I have worked at hospitals where each one had jurisdiction.
  9. Is anyone performing perioperative cell saver QC? If so, what exactly are you doing?
  10. CAP requires the requesting physician to include the amount to remove, the frequency, and what lab values to monitor when performing a Therapeutic Phlebotomy. Do ya'll find they are doing this on every order?
  11. What about storing the sample with a a serum separator in the tube?
  12. Am I correct that there is no real standard requirering one to wear gloves though, when issuing a unit of blood/components?
  13. For CAP Activity ID 2949 Cold Agglutinin, what alternate assessment is being used, if any at all?
  14. So, are there techs out there that actually wear gloves to issue a unit of packed cells, or FFP, etc.? Is there a standard for this?
  15. I have not checked, but I have been told it is the same as a water bed conditioner.This contains Alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride.
