  1. Or the Tango!!!
  2. It's great to see discussion over the different instruments. I strongly believe there is not one instrument that fits everyones needs. However, I'm curious why the Tango is not being considered. The Tango has capacity to handle all donor retypes with room left over for other routine tests. If your lab receives more than 20 units at a time, this would be important. It also has 2 STAT functions, Emergency and ASAP and the Tango is the only instrument that has 7 days on-board storage of both liquid reagents and plates, therefore, it is always ready to go, which is handy for many reasons, especially the generalist. It has complete random and continuous access, super user friendly software, automated maintenance, and QC only needs to be run once per day. It is at least worth looking at to compare with the others.
  3. Hi KGolldman, You mentioned you were looking at the Provue and the Echo. Can I ask why you are not looking at the Tango?
  4. Hi Rita, You could always look to Biotest for your tube reagents. Biotest will save you money and they do not charge list. http://www.biotestusa.com
  5. Hello Everyone, Thankfully you now have more options in blood bank reagents. Look to a company that has a history in manufacturing blood bank reagents since 1946 and understands the importance of the customer! Now it is time to think about cost savings in blood bank reagents rather than price increases.
  6. Hi, In response to your search for information, I would suggest researching the 3 automated platforms available to determine the best fit for your lab.
  7. Hi, There are many new Biotest users across the country now. Biotest has been a blood bank company for over 60 years and was the first in the world to have a commercially available Anti-D. 13 of the 20 monoclonals are new clones to the U.S. If you let me know what state your in I would be happy to see if I can send you a reference.
  8. Hi Ms. Kuehn, Hope you are doing well. The article was written by Suzanne Butch, University of MI, in Ann Arbor. It should be published before the end of the year. Once I see it I will pass it along.
  9. Yes, I believe so. The Tango is FDA cleared and capable of running Types, Screens (most importantly, pooled, 2-Cell, and/or 3-Cell,your choice!), Rh and Kell Phenotyping, Xmatch, Weak D, DAT, and Anitbody ID. However, the Tango is the only instrument that has 7-day on board storage of reagents and 2 separate STAT capabilities.
  10. I feel it is very important to consider what you are looking to accomplish in your lab and consider which instrument is the best fit for you based on your unique needs. I believe there will be an article posted in a trade journal by Suzanne Butch from the University of Michigan this October comparing blood bank automation -the Tango, ProVue, Galileo and Echo. There are only 4 blood bank automated platforms that I am aware of that are available today...researching all 4 to determine the best fit is the right thing to do.
  11. Relief is on the way. Biotest is expecting FDA approval any day now. Call them to see if you want to try any of there reagents and they will send it to you for free
