  1. I hope you had a wonderful day. I loved the idea of the Lego set, sounds like a lot of fun to me:winner:
  2. Under the new ISBT labeling system, an aliquot (ISBT divided) unit has the split designation attached to the unit #. ie AO, BO, CO, DO....depending on how many times the parent unit was split. The next generation of split units would have another designation. If the unit has that designation it is billed at the divided price, if not no matter how much of the unit was transfused it is billed at the full unit price. We bill all divided units that have been ordered (designated) for a specific patient to that patient account if transfused, any other splits from that designated unit are billed to the hospital as wasted.
  3. We do not charge for the 2nd ABORH.

Check out these CPT codes 86880, 86885, 86886 there are also directions when to use 86850 and 86870. One of the best sources for coding blood bank products and services is the AABB guide. I hope this link works for you. http://www.aabb.org/Documents/Programs_and_Services/Billing_and_Reimbursement_Initiatives/reimbguidev071017.pdf Have a great Thanksgiving everyone
  5. Here is the AABB billing reimbursement guide link. They address this question in the guide. http://www.aabb.org/Documents/Programs_and_Services/Billing_and_Reimbursement_Initiatives/reimbguidev071017.pdf Hope this helps
  6. Thanks Kate, our lab has wanted to keep the titration, elution and adsorption tests as manual billing, I doubt we will change that in our bb program. I have linked our tests to the CPT codes on a spreadsheet but have found it of little help with titers so leave that coding to the clients when they receive the test results. Our bb program uses only one antigen code, but with the high cost of some of our reagents, it was questioned if we should be pricing each test.
  7. I work in a community blood bank in the accounting department. We are looking to interface our blood bank software with a new accounting package. Since we have never used our blood bank software for accounting purposes, we have many codes and steps that will need to be changed in order to get the data in the BB program ready for the accounting program. One of the biggest concerns is our testing codes. Is anyone using their bb programs for billing adsorption, elution and titration tests. Also are you using one test code for antigen testing or using multiple codes? Thanks
