  1. I am back with another question on people using Expanse resolve blood type discrepancies (who don't do genetic testing) in the computer. I of course would only give O units. Expanse is telling me that I either have to report a blood type or send it out. We have done all our troubleshooting testing available to us and we cannot resolve the blood type, how do you report it in Expanse? I would be very grateful for any help with this issue.

  4. We are going to Meditech Expanse if that helps. Does anyone enter QC into Expanse? Do you like it? Pros/Cons I would appreciate any feedback 😀
  5. Can I get your opinion on using Meditech to enter QC. We are currently using a paper log and we are going live with Meditech in Aug. Meditech has yet to show me what it will look like to use the system to perform QC. Will it be worth the trouble to use Meditech for QC?
  6. Thank you all for your responses. I appreciate your input.
  7. Great this is exactly what I thought, Now I have to prove it to the entire facility that they should be doing this (and many other things ), and they are pushing back, so I need a reference. Do you have a source I can Per "...."
  8. I have been searching for support reference material for 2 people to issue blood products. All I can find is 2 people at time of transfusion. I looked in the CFR and cannot find what I am looking for. Maybe I am not looking correctly. Maybe we don't need 2 people to issue blood products. Can anyone direct me to a reference or inform me on the correct process for issuing blood products? pretty please
  9. We are inspected by the state. The inspector stated that as long as we have a continuous monitoring system with alarms, we do not need to record the temperatures daily. Maybe I am just used to doing it like we always do, but it feels weird to do this. Is there any rule that I am missing about documenting Blood storage devices. I tried looking up regulations and they are all very vague.

  11. Thank you for you advise. Mr. Needs. I was hoping for something that is built into the system that could manage this.
  12. Our hospital is very small and we use Meditech. Our providers order cord blood work ups on all babies regardless of the mothers Rh typing. They say it is because they do not want to miss one. I can appreciate that. I was wondering how other Meditech users manage the ordering of cord blood, so that a baby of an Rh negative mother does not get missed, and allow babies of Rh positive mothers to not routinely be tested? I asked Meditech and they could not help me. Thanks in advance
