mimi03 reacted to exlimey in Pt reacting to mts diluentIt's remotely possible that Ortho use different diluents for different cells. I remember a rumor that "fresh" cells are suspended in one kind of diluent, but frozen-thawed cells are in a similar diluent with a couple of extra chemicals to compensate for the freeze-thaw process. I think that frozen-thawed (deglycerolized) cells are sometimes used in emergencies when the scheduled donor(s) don't appear.

mimi03 got a reaction from RichU in Wrong ABO typing by GelJsbneg,
Am I missing something. You said the patient was truly a type O after receiving several type A RBC's. Maybe I'm missing something in the message

mimi03 reacted to Bb_in_the_rain in Mock-up casesFor those of who works in transfusion service laboratory and would like to learn more reference cases, I can post some mock-up cases here. If you would like me to do it, please hit the "heart" button on this post. If enough folks want to practice case studies on reference lab cases, I can post mock-up cases here weekly or so..

mimi03 got a reaction from Malcolm Needs in Recovering Anti-D from an eluate of an RH negative patientThanks everyone for your replies and comments. Yes to Malcolm, the last wash was negative. The Elution kit we use is from Gamma, the Elu-kit.
One correction though, I only had one eluate recover the anti-D, the other one was a warm auto.
We no longer stock the DTT, I wish we did, so I am not able to confirm if it is anti -LW. I really suspect it is.
