Fetal Screen or Kleihauer Betke for stillbirth & blood type not available?

Do you perform a Fetal Screen (rosette) test on the Rh neg mother of a term infant who was stillborn (for whom you can't get a blood sample) or do you go straight to the Kleihauer-Betke test on the off chance that the baby could be a weak or partial D not adequately detected by the Fetal Screen kit?

Our SOP states that if there is no blood type available on the neonate then you go straight to the Kleihauer-Betke. There is no point in performing a test (Fetal Screen) that may give a false negative result and thereby possibly doing irreparable harm if the mother develops anti-D because she did not receive an adequate dose of RhIg.
