Blood Bank Regulations

Hello, I am trying to prepare for an upcoming BB Supervisor interview. I do not have any prior experience as a Lead / Supervisor. Job description says that the candidate should be aware of JCAHO, CUA, OSHA, CAP, etc regulations. How do I educate myself about all these regulations ? Is there any website or online course I can take ? Thanks for your time.

The job description is wrong, JCAHO is not TJC. :)

Will you be responsible for managing inspections / assessments on your own?  For me, it's been a long journey over the past 20 or so years, mostly self learning.  Before I took my current position, I had memorized the AABB Standards, knew the FDA regulations very well, was familiar with TJC (then JCAHO), knew nothing of CAP nor OSHA.

Pretty much like Cliff says - knowing the regs is always a work in progress especially when you are new to BB mgmnt.  The only regs you really learn about are storage and (possibly) donor standards (FDA).  I would read the AABB standards and know where to find pertinent information.  These will mostly be in compliance w the FDA and CAP.  Cliff, I don't know how you memorized the standards, except that years ago they were not as extensive.

My theory was always, know where you can find it, don't waste brain space and time memorizing stuff besides the AABB standards changed with alarming frequency.  You will be painfully familiar with the stuff you need on a daily basis.  Everything else you can look it up, just know where.  When I would go over pre-inspection documentation I would indicate where I could find the answers.  It was quicker and easier than trying to write the entire answer.  Basically I'm pretty lazy.
