KTUCK
I'm curious of facilities who perform testing on automated analyzers.... we have a Provue analyzer and use Gel. When running cord bloods and the Rh is negative, do you perform additional weak D testing in tube or just result what the machine result is...Rh negative. Kathyang
We also run our cord bloods on ProVue. Yes we do weak D testing in tube since ProVue doesn't test for all weak variants of D. KTUCK
Dansket
We have been doing Weak D testing on ProVue for over 10 years using ORTHO BioClone Anti-D (vialed liquid antiserum).

Vial is labeled with a barcoded label that is readable by ProVue.
cave67
Where did you get the labels you apply to the vials? Since the ProVue is not licensed for weak D testing, did you do your own validation?
Dansket
The labels are standard address labels from Avery and we did do our own validation.
sblanchard
We do a manual weak D by gel method using Biorad anti-D.
AMcCord
Weak D testing is performed by the Echo on cord bloods if the 'Pediatric' blood type reports the specimen as Rh negative. We also repeat the weak D by tube with Immucor monoclonal blend anti-D.
