Zika labeling with Hematrax and Meditech

Recommended Posts

Hi From Digi-Trax (HemaTrax):  We have developed solutions for the Zika compliance labeling thru HemaTrax and have had appropriated discussions with Meditech. It is our understanding that they have solution using HemaTrax.  You need to contact Meditech directly and if you need any technical assistance from us please contact hcagadas@digi-trax.com.  We also stock pre-print labels if you require them now (info@digi-trax.com).

Our problem is that both Digi-Trax and Meditech are claiming to have solved the problem, but the "fixes" are not communicating. We have yet to see any solution that gets us to the final outcome, which is printing the read-only comment on our donor units entered into Meditech onto labels from the Hematrax printer.  If someone has gotten that far, I'd love to hear from them.

We finally figured this out the other day!  We are in MT 6.08.  We use test code N0125 in the "Special Test Code" field of our ISBT print prompt.  All Meditech needs to do for us now is expand the character limit for us so that we can fit the entire comment.  Not sure if that helped anyone!

Hi Jessie and Jennifer,

As previously noted by Digi-Trax, our Zika labeling solution is ready. If you could please let me know the task number you have opened with your BBK Applications Specialist and/or the names of your organizations, I will gladly follow up.  Please feel free to contact me directly via e-mail at amurphy@meditech.com.

Best Regards,

Amanda Murphy, Lead Software Tester, Laboratory Applications, Medical Information Technology, Inc. (MEDITECH)

Hi Jenny,

Since N0125 is just the ICCBBA code for any kind of investigational testing, we cannot associate permanent text.  It does not strictly correspond to Zika testing. Until such time as Zika testing is assigned its own approved ICCBBA bar code, users will need to manually enter the text on any units to which it should apply.  Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks

@amurphy We have the expanded field in test, we have entered the N0125 comment, have also entered this in our printer software. We can print a single label for a single unit, but do not know how to make this a permanent change.

Thanks, Jenny
