No - it's not a silly question.

As for most tests, the fresher the sample, the more reliable the result will be.  As cells get old, you can get all sorts of non-specific reactions taking place which are more or less visible depending on the method you use.  Having said that, I guess you're talking hours rather than days - so there should not be any problem at all.

As for storing them in the fridge, as long as it's EDTA that's not a problem as long as you make really sure that they are at room temperature before you use them, otherwise you're going to pick up all sort of cold auto-antibodies that are totally irrelevant.  For non-EDTA samples, this is a bit of a no-no, becuase you will get in-vitro complement binding.

I was wondering since there is a possibility of detaching the antibodies at the stage of washing before adding AHG -so keeping the cells at room temperature or cold temp will not affect the IgG bounding antibodies i.e. giving negative results or weaker results.
