Sickle Testing on Donor Units

Per recommendation of AABB (also discussed as a FAQ billing question on their website) we charge CPT code 85660 for each unit that is sickle cell tested. Since the MUEs (Medically Unlikely Edits) went into effect in January, these bills are now being rejected. This particular CPT code is actually written for patient testing and is allowed only once per day so I can see why they are being rejected. Unfortunately, there is no other CPT code to use. I have contacked AABB asking if there is anything in the works recommending a new CPT code but I have not received an answer as of this time. Do you charge for sickle testing on donor units and do you use CPT code 85660? Are you all seeing these charges being rejected?
