RE: Query with higher specialist case study

Hi there,

I have previously mentioned that I sat the IBMS higher specialist exams this year and had a query with regards to one of the case studies ( case study 2) . In the case study donor 2's phenotype appears to be negative for both C and c, the past papers have now been published and I have attached a copy, just in case there is something more complex going on that I have missed. Any comments appreciated.

many thanks

Patricia

Okay, I've had a look, and I think it is a typo too!

I have never, ever come across a red cell that types as positive for either E or e, let alone both, and yet is negative for both C and c!

I will ask the Chief Examiner and Deputy Chief Examiner (both of whom just happen to be a friend of mine)!!!!!!!!!

kind regards

Tricia

Hi Tricia,

I have spoken to the Chief Examiner this morning, and she confirms that it was a typo and sends her aplogies.

She also said that it was a good job that she was not sitting the exam herself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
