Manage stock in particular FFP

Yes its not immediately obvious how to post!

Does anyone have any super duper ideas on how to manage stock in particular FFP ? Assuming one does not have a computer friendly computer system. Posting a chart on the fridge door and asking staff to fill in stock levels daily ?by on call staff? start of every day shift? Asking staff to fill in charts on doors is always difficult to 'police' when you have rapid staff turnaround :cries:

would just a 'tick box' be better to document the stock has been checked to be adequate? Currently staff should reorder stock when stock is used. What systems do other people have in place to avoid opening the door of the freezer to find an empty draw?

Hi hollowayl,

This post should be in tranfusion service, but here is my opinion. I am thinking that if you post what is adequate:

10O, 10A, 12AB, etc, and then ask each shift to mark that they have checked that levels are adequate or ordered to bring levels to adequate that should do it. Less paperwork for you! If you find that someone didn't initial, you are going to have to check it yourself and then correct that person.

How do you check your red cell inventory and order blood from your supplier, hallowayl? (ie: Is that something that a tech routinely does each morning?) You might include the frozen plasma to be checked and replenished at the same time as your red cell inventory.
