  1. Hi Patient blood group is A Rh D positive and antibody screen negative. Set up 4 units of A Pos unit and found to be incompatible. Then we set up 3 A Rh D negative units and found to be incompatible. Therefore panel was set up and found to negative in all cell line. We set-up 4 unit O Rh D negative and found to be COMPATIBLE. However DAT is positive in IgG 2+. But why was cross match was incompatible in A red cell but COMPATIBLE with O red cell.
  2. Hi Malcolm We have a case where 32 year old pregnant lady Oneg rr and her partner is R2r. Her antibody screen was negative at 12 weeks, she has been given prophylactic anti-D at 19 weeks, Now her antibody screen is Positive and look like she developed Anti-D(proph D) and Unexplained anti-C. As far as we know this is her first pregnancy and no previous miscarriage or no transfusion history. How did she develop anti- C?Are Anti-D injection pure anti-D or they can contain mixture of Rh antibody? Do you think anti-C could have come from Prophylactic anti-D injection.

  5. I am very pleased to announce that Malcolm Needs will be speaking at the 67th Laboratory Science Convention of the ASCLS-CNE in Providence, RI, at 10:30 on Wednesday April 29. Malcolm's presentation will be on "Transfusion in a Multi-Ethnic Population". It's a 3 day convention, from 4/28-30, offering concurrent lectures in all the lab disciplines. I will post our program as soon as it is finalized. It will include preregistration information. I can also provide info on local food and lodging if anyone is interested. Phil
