  1. Hi all! I was wondering how other facilities/hospitals label their blood units after crossmatching? Does anyone use label stickers and place it on the unit or just use crossmatch tags in paper?
  2. We are in the process of narrowing our new Blood Bank software down to Softbank or SafeTrace Tx frm Haemonetics. Our new LIS system will be Beaker (our current EHR is Epic). We have heard pros and cons about both systems and are interested in users giving us feedback on their thoughts, especially if they have Softbank as a standalone (i.e., not part of the entire LIS system). All information is welcome. Thanks
  3. Would anyone be willing to share their SOP's for "tubing" blood products? I am trying to get this started at my facility (even though it seems like everyone else has been doing it for years!) and am already getting lots of questions. I figure being able to explain what others do might help! Thank you in advance! Edit: we do not have the capability of "secure send" or scanning units/badges with our tube system
  4. Hi Everybody! This is my first post! I am a Marketing Associate for Hemo bioscience (manufacturer and distributor of BB Reagents) and was hoping to gain insight into which educational conferences/conventions are considered the most valuable or which ones you enjoy attending the most or which ones you hear of the most...? We really appreciate the educational sector of this industry and I would personally like to commit to a presence at these shows. Any feedback appreciated! Thanks Adele
  5. I was wondering if anyone had come across being able to issue blood to patients without the antibody screen resulted? We had a situation where this happened last week and the screens were negative and the technician had wrote out the results for the antibody screens on our crossmatch cards but forgot to enter it in meditech. The tech was able to issue blood to the patients without any qa prompts or anything flagging them that there was anything missing in the process!? I personally am new to meditech and this seems very unstable and scary to me! Does anyone have any insight to this issue? Thanks in advance!
  6. Does anyone have any comments on Blood Bank automation instrumentation? Please share your ideas of why you chose the one you have. Thanks.
