  1. Hi everyone Last month quality control department in my blood bank canceled 208 from 499 of PCs units which derived by PRP method and there are 30% of cancelled units due to aggregete platelets (by visually assessment the next day of preparation) so do you have any idea about possible causes of platelet aggregation in platelet concentrate units in blood bank. Thank you
  2. Hello I need help in TTI screening test for blood donors we observe variation in results between full automation machines although they processing in the same methodology for example Architect and Vitros machine some samples reactive for anti-HCV on Architect machine and negative by Vitros machine, and some samples are positive by Vitros machine and negative by Architect, so in this situation which machine considered as accurate to use for screening test for blood donors. 4. Hi to all Is there a specific volume for the fresh FFP which separated from 450+_10% ml whole blood unit to be considered a therapeutic unit ? Thanks
  5. Thanks to all Thanks to everyone who interact with this subject, but my question is not intended to during transportation, but after the separation process the platelets units left upside down for an hour to resettle in the remaining plasma, then placed in the agitator until they are shipping, the remained units of platelets for a long time in this situation more than ten hours, for example, is it possible that it affects the quality of platelets ?
  6. Hi every one What is the maximum time it can leave the platelets unit out of the agitator after separated from whole blood unit and so are not affected its function? Thanks
  7. Thanks SMW, thanks Malcolm Needs I also agree with you. Could you please tell me the best method to chek hemoglobine ( of course befor donation ) , for example in your country do you chek the hemoglobine or Hct and by which machine CBC caulter or another method.
  8. Thank you SMW Yes, you're right. Even in my country we use these criteria but the doctor made a mistake when this was not being done (hemoglobin test) Maybe because he relied on the visual examination of the donor and he doesn"t appear it pallor and the donor also hid from the doctor that he suffered hemorrhoids and ulcers thinking that it would not affect the process of donation, but certainly the doctor is responsible in this case, he should make sure of hemoglobin before giving approval to donate blood. the question Is: is the red blood cells unit will be useful if intensive spent for any other patient will raise the proportion of hemoglobin as the unit which taken from the donor meets the criteria for the rate of hemoglobin, which must be higher than 13g % ?? I am responsible in the Department of quality control and this is the first time that it come across such a case, I have no idea about how to behave in this unit of blood, i put this question on this site to benefit from the expertise of the members in this forum. Thank you
  9. Hi every body After physical examination the doctor gave a donor approval to donate blood , after completion of the donation the nurse who take blood did hemoglobin test by take a sample from the whole blood unit, hemoglobin test shows that the donor has anemia (Hb = 8.0 mg / dl) then the doctor call the donor and describe him some medicine and advised him to visit a specialist doctor. Unit of blood were donated separated into red blood cells and plasma. The question is the unit of red blood cells considered a therapeutic unit, is it possible to transfuse it to an anemic patient for example, or for surgery? please give your opinion about this unit can be used or not?
