Considering adopting gel methodology in our low-volume hospital Blood Bank, to be more efficient and standardized when generalist works solo in lab, responsible for all testing. Are there any other vendors in US, other than J+J (Ortho) that you can purchase gel products from?

Our blood supplier will be providing us with CMV neg,Irradiated products in CPDA-1 when needed, on a daily basis for a critically ill oupatient (acute leukemia). Our supplier is 80 miles away and will prepare Platelet phereis/RBC.s as we need them and STAT courier them to us (approx $150 fee for courier) Are there any HCPCS/CPT or revenue billing codes that might help us get some reimbursement to help cover a STAT Courier fee? (patient is Medicaid) Thanks!!

does anyone use CPT 85060 to bill lab component of prep and sending a peripheral smear for review to a Pathologist off-site? I think the Pathologist also may bill his Professional component with 85060 also? Thanks if you can share.
