You were exactly correct in having the phleb redraw the patient. Especially with common names like you had. I work in a big hospital and I've seen to many weird things happen! Where our facility draws the line is if the name and/or MRN or SS# is not correct is MUST be redrawn. And always label at the bedside! Just my thoughts!

Hi there! At our facility we will test BT only if we will be using that tube for crossmatching. Also, when we don't pool plasma together. If we get 3 tubes, we will put each in it's own tube. We green dot the one where we haven't tested the BT. I respect everyone does it differently though! Feel free to ask anymore questions!

Hi All, Has anyone started the PGD platelet testing? I need to validate this with the current method we use, which is Ph strips. If anyone is not familiar with this, it is a new FDA approved, AABB requirement, in lieu of the Ph testing. It tests for bacteria in Platelets prior to issuing. Anybody have ideas for validating? I have the information in my mind how I would set this up. Just wanted to get other institutions/people's ideas. Thanks! All comments, questions, suggestions welcome!
