  1. Has anyone successfully interfaced the Ortho ProVue with Meditech Magic? We are having so much trouble and Meditech just isn't getting the job done. We would like to have bi-directional interface. If you have or know of someone who has experience with both the Provue and Meditech, please let me know.
  2. We currently do not have a blood irradiator in our Blood Bank but are working with our Radiation Oncology department to provide this service. I would like to know if any other facilities are irradiating products this way and what steps you took to validate the process. Also, we are currently not inspected by the FDA and were wondering if this would open us up to an inspection. Any information would be appreciated.
  3. Our facility is up and running with eMAR. The I.T. person that brought that up is now helping me with the TARs and she says that it is much harder than eMAR. One problem is that it requires the nurse to scan 4 barcodes (patient armband, unit #, product, and source). eMAR requires them to scan the patient id and the NDC# of the drug. Everything about the drug is tied in to the NDC#. With blood products the unit# cannot be used this way because you may have more than one product with the same unit# (donor i.d.#).
  4. That's what I am finding out. I am keep running into roadblocks and...Meditech just doesn't get it!
  5. Has any one been successful in setting up the bed-side scanning with Meditech? We are currently in the process of setting this up but have encountered several road blocks. Right now, the verifications performed by the nurse prior to transfusion are done manually and documented on a card that becomes part of the patient's medical record. With TAR, the patient's armband would be scanned, then the unit #, product code, and source code. All other transfusion information would be documented in Meditech. I'd like to hear if anyone has encountered any problems and how they worked around them.
  6. Does anyone have any experience or information about the remote BloodTrack HemoNine refrigerators and software? We are looking for a solution in supplying our emergency department with emergency released blood as quickly as possible and still be able to track who received the blood. Ugh! What a task!
  7. We purchased a Sorvall CW2 Plus cellwasher over a year ago. It is has not been used much and lately we have noticed the bowl is extremely wet and dripping with saline after the wash cycles. I contacted the company and they state that this is normal. It just seems too wet and I am concerned. This is the only one of this newer model that we have and I have nothing to compare it to. Please let me know if you are familiar with this piece of equipment and if it is "normal".
