Tom Neish's Achievements

  1. Storing pooled plasma is not included in the products intended use. They are also a bit expensive, why not use a blood transfer bag?
  2. We use a blanket warmer (Pedigo P-2010-s) i is small and relatively inexpensive. We also use a T-Pump by Gaymar for a recirculating water heating pad. We are not allowed to use electric heating pads. We have found that using a hand exerciser that can be warmed up in a microwave (Action products) helps keeps the donors hand very warm.
  3. Stu, Send me you email address and I can share some material with you. Tom tneish@unch.unc.edu
  4. Hi Liz, According to the FDA Guidance for Industry "Collection of Platelets by Automated Methods" December 2007; a donor should undergo no more than 24 Platelet, pheresis collections in a rolling 12-month period. In addition, the interval between each collection of Platelet via apheresis should be at least two days with no more than two procedures in a seven day period. The interval between the collection of a double or triple platelet donation and any subsequent collection of platelets should be at least 7 days. Hope this helps. Tom
