We use gel for blood typing and antibody screens and antibody IDs but perform tube crossmatches, and tube method is our backup. If we use saline for our centrifuge calibrations, is this enough?

We are also a small hospital and order platelets as needed. However, we have been using a mechanical device and take temps every 4 hours and was wondering if anyone else uses a mechanical device to hold the platelets? The most amount of platelets we have had at one time was 3 and that's rare.
