LT John's Achievements

  1. We've had the XN3100 for a few years now and love it. I will say the slide maker/stainer is very low maintenance but it's automated cleaning procedure will take it out of service for roughly 35-45 minutes daily. We usually perform this at the slowest part of the day and rarely have to make manual slides.
  2. Sysmex chem portion of the UN has been dropped and they're partnering with Siemens again for the chemistry portion. Trying to also find out if the Novus is better than the chem portion of the IRIS. We currently have the IRIS and I've had 2 recalls in the past year on their chem strips. We are planning on going with Sysmex but recently found out they will no longer be pursuing FDA approval for their own urine chemistry analyzer. Very disappointed being that I've read some good things about the full UN line currently running in other countries.
  3. I'm a brand new hemo/UA/Coag/Sero supervisor and we are in the process of replacing our tired BCS XP. The problem I'm having is bringing on two new test that we previously sent out to Quest for testing and I'm not sure how to go about crossover testing since we never ran the test in house. I'm not sure if I'm just overthinking this or if my Stago service rep is just confusing me as to what needs to be done to bring this testing on board. With our current analyzers (BCSXP) we ran PT, PTT, DDimer, Fibrinogen and Xa so there was no problem with crossover studies between old and new analyzers. We will now be performing AT III and thrombin time on the new STAR Max we're in the process of bringing in. There are currently no hospitals in my area doing AT III and TT let alone using Stago analyzers to do this testing. My Stago service rep suggested sending samples to Quest to have them tested against our analyzers. That sounds very expensive and not very reliable to me. The whole reason we decided to bring this testing on board is because of the issues we've had with Quest performing these tests. I've discussed this issue with other department supervisors and they said that when they bring new tests on board that previously weren't done in house, the company would provide samples to test against. Stago currently does not provide a service like that. What are my options here? Am I overthinking this whole situation?
