  1. Our SOP states that if there is no blood type available on the neonate then you go straight to the Kleihauer-Betke. There is no point in performing a test (Fetal Screen) that may give a false negative result and thereby possibly doing irreparable harm if the mother develops anti-D because she did not receive an adequate dose of RhIg.
