Cliff
One of our administrators asked us to look into these. Does anyone use them for patients / donors? What do you do for QC? Would you be willing to share your validation plan? Thanks
David Saikin
I used them years ago. I would put them in a plastic cover(saran wrap) and place them in a water bath to see that they were close to temp. They worked well. Unfortunately I always had to buy a case of which I outdated way too many. It was less expensive to buy a thermometer and its incumbent "tips" so I went that route. Cliff
Thanks David. We have a bunch of electronic thermometers and the tips cost a little bit. The TempaDot would be more, but if we add in the initial cost of the electronic thermometer and the probe that needs to be replaced every now and then, we think the TempaDot might save money. We'll never outdate them, we'd use at least 10,000 a year, probably a lot more.
David Saikin
If they are cost effective for you I don't think you'll go wrong. I think one of their big selling points is that they went into space with the astronauts.
