CMCDCHI
I always love an article that talks about blood banking, but since when is anti-D rare?http://www.npr.org/2015/06/14/414397424/man-with-the-golden-arm-donates-blood-thats-saved-2-million-babies?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=npr&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20150614
Malcolm Needs ☆
I doubt it is the rarity of the antibody specificity. It is more likely to be the rarity of the continued titre of the antibody. That having been said, it could be anything, as it is so obviously not written by someone who knows the first thing about what they have written. Jack and Jill Do Blood Transfusion??????? goodchild
Hmmm . Looking at the picture in the article, are we sure it's blood he's been donating???? If that isn't encouragement to be a blood donor, what is?
Auntie-D
Jusy out of interest, why, if he received blood himself, was he even allowed to donate? ETA - just read the article properly. He's donated immunoglobilin. I suppose people with an anti-D are quite rare nowadays, and even more so who are willing to donate so frequently.
