Transfusion Computer System Reconnaissance - Is it worth a switch?

We are unhappy with our current BBIS and wondered if there were any facilities that have blood bank computer systems that they really like around GA, SC, NC that would be willing for us to come and see their system in action for a few hours? 

Realizing that all systems probably have their pros and cons, we just don't know if the cons we are living with in our current system are worth fighting for a different system.  Seeing and hearing how other systems work compared to ours would help us pick our battles.   

Our facility is currently talking about making a switch to Epic (like just about everyone else) and since Epic doesn't have a blood bank system, this might be a good time to take a stand.  Thanks!

Yes, this would be a good time to get a better BBIS. Some of them are successful interfacing with Epic, some not. Sorry, I'm in New York, a little too far away, but consider SCC Softbank as an option. I'm very happy with it and we have Epic.

I was hoping to get Softbank but, alas, capital was turned down.  It seemed one of the best we looked at.

To Quote the Tin Man:  " Oh Joy, Rapture!"  I am getting Softbank afterall . . . it is in our administrative budget not the lab's.

You will love Softbank, David!  We have had it for Blood Bank since 2008.  We are going live with Epic and Beaker Lab the end of this month.
